An Environmental Management System (EMS) is a set of processes and practices that enable an organization to reduce its environmental impacts and increase its operating efficiency, and a framework that helps a company achieve its environmental goals through consistent control of its operations. EPA International Standards covering environmental management are intended to provide organizations with the elements of an effective environmental management system (EMS) that can be integrated with other management requirements and help organizations achieve environmental and economic goals.

Company Experience and Capabilities

• Turnkey development and implementation of an EMS according to ISO 14000 standards for major regional healthcare facility, including meeting with client to obtain objects and goals and systems interface, individual visits to each individual healthcare facility to develop site specific goals, objectives and targets, development of a master, corporate plan, integration of the EMS Plan with existing systems and procedures, training for all point people at each facility, and top management briefing.
• Development of Environmental Plan (EMP) for major regional healthcare facility, including plan development and support for client implementation. An EMP covered all applicable environmental program areas across all components such as applicability, permitting, ongoing compliance, monitoring, record keeping, reporting etc. Although an EMP does not have all the components of an ISO 14000 EMS, for example management review and continuous improvement, and thus may not be as effective, it can be a more cost-effective alternative.
